A coalition of gardening enthusiasts, in cooperation with the Agricultural Urbanism Toolkit program (a grant project funded through the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture at Iowa State University), will host a morning workshop to explore community gardens, learn about opportunities that exist and provide feedback on community garden efforts and educational programs to support gardeners around Iowa.
This public workshop will bring together a wide range of individuals and organizations engaged in community and school gardens in central Iowa that provide educational programming for gardeners.
A panel of speakers representing different areas of community gardens are scheduled to address topics like: community gardens types, how to establish community gardens, garden management styles and roles, as well as successes and challenges.
This FREE event is Nov. 14 from 8:30-11:00am at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden.
Registration for this event is required by Novemeber 6 to gather program interests and count for a light breakfast.
