Looking for a fun family experience over Spring Break?

Join us for an array of drop-in activities and special family workshops. Drop-in activities (held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) are free with your paid admission.  

Family Workshops

The family workshops are the perfect opportunity for families to have a creative experience at the Botanical Garden. These hands-on classes are designed for youth ages 4-14 and an adult to build a take-home project together. Please note one adult is required for every three youth participants. Fairy Gardens

Tuesday, March 13 10-11:15 a.m. FULL and 2-3:15 p.m. FULL

Create your own miniature world with plants and other natural materials to attract fairies to your home.

Printmaking from Nature

Wednesday, March 14, 10-11:15 a.m.3 SPOTS LEFT and 2-3:15 p.m.

Explore different simple printmaking techniques and then use these to create unique works of art which celebrate botanical topics.

Flower Crowns

Thursday, March 15, 10-11:15 a.m. FULL and 2-3:15 p.m. FULL

Learn about a variety of flowers and then create beautiful, handmade flower crowns.

Botanical Egg Dyeing

Friday, March 16, 10-11:15 a.m. FULL and 2-3:15 p.m.

Dyeing eggs is a lovely spring tradition. Learn techniques to create and use plant-based dyes, as well as try out some botanical decorations.

Members: $20 Youth/Adult Pair, $15 Additional Youth

Nonmembers: $25 Youth/Adult Pair, $20 Additional Youth      

Drop-In Activities

Offered daily from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

  • Nature Journal: Make and decorate a small nature journal to guide to act as your passport as you travel through all the drop-in stations, plus some take-home goodies.
  • Sprout House: Assemble a small sprout house to take home and place in a window to observe seeds as they germinate and grow.
  • Seed Match: Match seeds to the corresponding plant that it comes from and learn about various seed shapes and sizes.
  • Seed Dispersal Experiment: Discuss and experiment with the many ways that seeds can be dispersed.
  • Seed Games: Fun games involving seeds!
