This event has been rescheduled to Nov. 8, 2020.

In light of the ongoing situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are suspending the last three weeks of our Botanical Blues concert series. We will make every effort to reschedule these performances. The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden remains open for general admission and other scheduled events daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Take a break from the cold winter weather and join us for Botanical Blues!

Join us for Dennis Kain at the Botanical Garden!
Dennis “Big Daddy” Kain is a veteran of many years of performing Delta and Country Blues as a soloist and as a featured musician. Dennis has performed in a variety of venues; from Iowa backwoods to deep in the Delta and on the islands of Hawaii. Dennis began his musical journey on the banks of the Des Moines River where he learned how to play finger-style and slide Blues. Dennis has learned to play many Blues standards and has written numerous creative Blues songs of his own. As “Big Daddy” has recently said about his background: I am a “Student of the Blues, learning a way to navigate this world of the blues. Lots of acoustic blues from days when a 78 record on a gramophone got people dancing in a juke joint”. Dennis is a great musician. Don’t miss this Bluesman from the old… and new schools.
