Due to the high volume of guests celebrating Earth Day with us on Saturday, April 22, the Botanical Garden encourages guests to carpool, walk, or bike to the Garden.

Come celebrate the connection between plants and water with the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden on Earth Day sponsored by Renewable Energy Group! Enjoy free admission to the Botanical Garden on Saturday, April 22 to participate in family-friendly activities and engage with community partners who will be on-site from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Botanical Garden is unveiling a new mural at 11 a.m. in the garden commons as part of the Earth Day festivities!

Local artist, Marissa Hernandez, worked with youth from Children’s Cancer Connection and Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa to create a mural for the Botanical Garden. The mural can be found in the garden commons (between the conservatory and the Gardeners Show House) and highlights the diversity within plants, people, and art, uplifting the voices of youth by incorporating their drawings in the design. The drawings completed by the youth can be viewed in the Garden’s North Gallery for at least one month, with the mural having a positive impact on Garden guests for many years to come!

Thank you to our community partners!
