In October 2014, the Botanical Garden celebrated its ceremonial grand opening with two days of public previews and its inaugural Annual Symposium. The seven acres of new gardens opened for regular visitation in April 2015.
The outdoor gardens showcase our commitment to raising the standards of excellence in Midwestern horticulture through sustainable, plant-driven experiences. The gardens by their design embrace our urban environment for its inherent challenges, cultivate an awareness and understanding of sustainable land management, and serve as an artful and architectural expression of formal and informal planting styles. The gardens are extrinsically valued by the community as a gorgeous setting for public gatherings and private events and a space to experience world-class horticulture.
